Course Description:

The purpose of the AAM Course is to provide instruction to pre-service
and in-service teachers on the effective, efficient, and wise use of digitized primary source materials from the collections of the Library of Congress. Additionally, instructional design and instructional technology utilization will be focus areas for promoting the use of technology in teaching and learning activities. The course will mainly focus on the nature of primary sources and classroom applications for digital technology and will provide hands-on experience using the historical texts, photographs, motion pictures, maps, and sound recordings from the Library of Congress digital collections.

Additionally, teachers will learn how to mentor others and work with students, schools, and communities to actively integrate Library of Congress as well as local primary sources into their teaching and learning activities.

Course Description:

The purpose of the AAM Course is to help in-service and pre-service teachers efficiently, effectively, and wisely access, use and produce curriculum that utilizes the Internet and digitized primary source materials from the collections of the Library of Congress. The course will focus on the nature of primary sources and classroom applications for digital technology and will provide hands-on experience in using the historical texts, photographs, motion pictures, maps, and sound recordings from the Library of Congress American Memory digital collections.

Additionally, teachers will learn how to disseminate multi-media lesson plans through mentoring activities in their schools and to assist other teachers in accessing the resources of the National Digital Library and develop multimedia materials.

As part of the College's conceptual framework that focuses on preparing Reflective Practitioners, students are encouraged to fully participate in classroom discussions and to present and discuss their classroom projects as they relate to the focus of the course.

The course will focus on the nature of primary sources and classroom applications for digital technology and will provide hands-on experience using the historical texts, photographs, motion pictures, maps and sound recordings from the Library of Congress American Memory digital collections.

Additionally, teachers will also learn how to disseminate lesson plans integrating technology through mentoring activities in their schools and to assist other teachers in accessing the resources of the National Digital Library and develop materials integrating technology.
